Michelle works for a large Telecommunications Network developing secure Internet Applications.
The work includes Mainframe programming in REXX and SAS, PC development in FoxPro, ColdFusion, JavaScript, JAVA, PHP, MySQL, and proprietary languages.
Most of the day is spent on the other duties as required.
Labor Market Analyst (Economic)Michelle began her career in Statistics and worked as a Labor Market Analyst while attending college. The work included researching occupational data and forecasting the supply and demand of all occupations. The primary work was to develop and publish labor force and unemployment rate estimates.
Labor Market Analyst's write monthly newsletters, bulletins, press releases and other narrative and graphic publications for use by the media, businesses, and the general public.
The work included a monthly radio interview answering questions about the current and projected economic status of particular geographical areas.
Information Technology was still called Data Processing when work began in the IT world. Platform: IBM Mainframe, VM, DEC VAX, and PC.Language: Xbase, dBase III and IV, COBOL, Basic, SAS, NCL, DCL, RMS Chain, REXX, VB, FoxPro, PL1, JAVA, JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, MySQl, ColdFusion, REXX, and more.
A significant contribution was made in improving SAS software and was recognized by the SAS Institute.
Recognition for significant improvement in government processes was demonstrated in the form of three cash Merit Awards from the Governor of the State of California in one year.
Along with other contributors, Michelle, was included in a signing ceremony with the Governor of California for developing the first white-collar apprenticeship program in the State of California -- the Programmer Apprenticeship program.
Early IT work included implementation and coordination of automation projects, preparation of multi-million dollar Feasibility Study Reports, Budget Change Proposals, and procurement documents.
As the lead technical support on California statewide automation projects work in Telecommunications became a major focus.
Grand JurorDuring the Y2K period Michelle was selected as a Grand Juror for Yolo County, California and served for one year. Her contributions are confidential. She served on five committees including the Editing Committee that publishes the annual Grand Jury Report that is disseminated to the public as an insert in local newspapers. The successes while serving as a Grand Juror are the most important contributions to the community.
