Mandarin Makes A Picture Glow
BY GARY WILLIAMS(October 5, 2003)
My friend meg at Mandarin Design showed off a nice trick with clip art she found at a freeware site, Tack-O-Rama, where they have several hundred classic ads and illustrations from the 40's and 50's -- truly tacky stuff. Here's a sample, getting ready for Halloween early and all.
Here's the code to make a picture glow (picture included) :It will look like this.
Notice that the code to add to the IMG tag is style="filter:glow(color=orange, strength=10). It will work on any image.
The color can be any of the named colors, or a hex value like #DCDCDC (light grey); the strength parameter sets the width of the glow effect.
Here's a set of the variations, using the smaller image:
Strength=1
Strength=2
Strength=3
Strength=4
Strength=5
Strength=6
Strength=7
Strength=8
Strength=9
Strength=10
Strength=20
Strength=30
And, to sum it all up, a JackOLantern without the cat:
